Ice will form at the fastest rate on bridges and transmissions, so LVC urges drivers to be extra cautious when moving around them. It should be assumed that ice can form very quickly.
LVC also said that ice may form repeatedly after the roads have been treated with anti-slip materials.
Particularly difficult driving conditions can form on roads with gravel cover and a lower maintenance class maintained with a raised layer of snow during winter. As the air temperature drops rapidly, the melted mass of snow and water will freeze and ice will form.
Riga Municipality has also asked drivers to be particularly careful, to keep more distance from the vehicles ahead, not to perform rapid maneuvers, as well as to choose a speed appropriate to driving conditions.
