Rīga public transport now offers QR tickets

Take note – story published 2 years ago

From Thursday, October 21, it is possible to buy a QR code ticket on public transport in Rīga via the “Rīgas Satiksme” application.

The code ticket will be available for use in Rīga trams, trolleybuses and buses. It works in parallel with the existing ticket system. Up to 10 single-ride tickets can be purchased in the app, which can be used within three months.

Each tram, trolletybus, and bus shall have a unique identification number consisting of five digits. The identification number is shown both under the square code and are located inside and outside the vehicle. When entering public transport, one must either scan the QR code or enter the transport identification number in the app.

If a controller enters the transport, the application must be opened and the registered ticket must be presented to the controller.

The app is still being developed and its functionality will further be extended to other apps, like Mobilly.

Rīgas Satiksme published an informative video about the use of the new ticket.
