On October 23, Andreja Pumpura Street in Daugavpils, at around 01:55, two men with a previous criminal record drove an Audi A6 purposefully towards a Mercedes Benz, in which there were two men at the time.
One of the perpetrators was carrying a firearm, which he shot through the window, injuring the driver of the Mercedes, who was taken to a local medical facility.
Within a few hours, two men, born in 1991 and 1988, were detained by the Response Unit of the South Latgale Precinct of the Latgale Regional Police Directorate.
One firearm was seized from them at the time of arrest.
During an authorized search, law enforcement officers seized a second firearm from the men.
Law enforcement officers also seized 11 cartridges, one fired cartridge, clothes, a mask, and other physical evidence.
On October 24, both suspects were remanded in custody. Criminal proceedings for attempted murder have been initiated.
