France's President Emmanuel Macron has concluded his visit in Latvia, but someone else from France has just arrived to stay. It is the Amur tiger Taiga, who will now reside at the Rīga Zoo. Along wiTigth the male Amur tiger August from Germany, both are settling in their new home.
Rīga Zoo participates in the European breeding program of Amur tigers, which aims at maintaining a steady population of the rare species in zoos. Nine years ago, the Amur tiger Klifs Grants was born in Rīga but was later sent to France, where he has since had six cubs. One of them is the four-year-old Taiga.
