After a slow Midsummer week, Latvia experienced a rise in vaccination rates, while the two weeks after that showed a drop of 28% and 39%, respectively. Meanwhile, in the past week, this fall has stopped and turned into a small increase, with a total of 35,397 people being vaccinated against Covid-19 last week, up 5% over the week before.
An average of 5,057 people daily were vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia last week, 4,858 a week earlier, and 8,059 the week before that. This is still much lower than in the last full week of May when the pace of vaccination in the country reached its highest level and on average more than 16,600 people were jabbed in a day.
652,040 people have received the first dose of vaccines against Covid-19 in Latvia, while 663,032 people have completed the vaccination process. Thus 34.54% of the population have received the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 and 35.13% of the population have completed the vaccination process. The proportion of the fully vaccinated population is slightly higher than the proportion of the first-dose population since the J & J vaccine requires only one dose after which the person is considered to be fully vaccinated.
