On Friday February 3 at 18:00, Ukrainian artist Daria Kalashnikova will stage a live performance of her piece  "How long can this all last?" at the Latvian National Museum of Art.

Daria Kalashnikova is an artist, political activist, and a former gymnast from Luhansk, Ukraine, and as previously reported by LSM, she has made quite an impact on the Latvian contemporary art scene since relocating in the wake of Russia's invasion of her country.

During the performance, the artist combines elements of gymnastics, lights, and sound.

"By repeating a gymnastic exercise, she measures the duration of the ongoing war in debilitating monotony and talks about Ukrainian cities that are currently partially or completely destroyed," says advance publicity material.

In addition to performance art and a successful exhibition of paintings, Kalashnikova is also writing a book that is due to be published in Latvian in August 2023.

Full details of the February 3 performance and a preview video are available at the Latvian National Museum of Art website.
