Three for the weekend: Street Food, Op Art, Puppets

Here are three more ideas to make the most of this weekend in Latvia.

Rīga Old Town Festival

A concerted effort will be made to tell winter to clear off by staging a Street Food Festival in Rīga's Old Town, where there are also plenty of museums and other attractions on hand to ease you out of hibernation mode.

Spring Season at Rothko Center

As previously reported by LSM, the new exhibition season is now under way at the Mark Rothko Art Center in Daugavpils, with a major show from Daugavpils-born Jacques Shapiro the undoubted highlight. We also like the look of the op-art of Polish artist Piotr Skowron.

Puppet Premiere in Liepāja

A brand new show takes to the stage at Liepāja's wonderful Puppet Theater this weekend. Titled 'Murjāņi Mole and his Friends', there's not a lot of information about the story, but we're confident it involves a mole from Murjāņi, and that's good enough for us, as every production of the Liepāja Puppet Theater is a joy. There are shows on both Saturday and Sunday plus half a dozen other productions, so why not make it a puppet-filled family weekend?
