The first international documentary film festival Artdocfest/Rīga is planned to take place April 28 to May 3, the organizers said February 8.

Initially, the festival was planned in November 2020, but due to the state of emergency it was postponed.

The organizers said that no matter the epidemiological situation, the festival would take place on the big screens, even if it meant that only the jury is present.

"We have maintained our conviction that only a live connection between the viewer and the filmmaker, the wonder of premiere on the big screen, the discussions of representatives hold the meaning of a film festival. Be it smaller format, limited crowd," said the statement by organizers.

The festival program will be available on the festival's website.

Artdocfest programs, until now, were organized in collaboration with Rīga International Film Festival (IFF) as part of its documentary section.
