Latvian mushroom photo gets Sony World Photography Award

The Sony World Photography Awards announced the winners of the National and Regional prize category February 16. From the Latvian applicants, the award was received by Jānis Paļulis, Sony representatives in Latvia said.

Among 440 Latvian photographers' applications, Jānis Paļulis' photo 'Mirdzošā sēne' (Glowing Mushroom) received the National award.

Jānis Paļulis has been photographing for ten years, mostly macro, nature, landscape, wedding and art photography. The 'Glowing Mushroom' was taken in August 2020 near Bauska. Jānis Paļulis already received the Sony award five years ago.

The Sony World Photography Awards is a contest by World Photography organization. The National Awards category aims to support local photographers all over the world. 53 countries participated this year with more than 330,000 applications.
