Print volume of National Encyclopaedia to be unveiled

On October 18 a special print volume of the National Encyclopaedia will be opened at the National Library of Latvia, its main editor Dr. hist. Valters Ščerbinskis told Latvian Radio.

The National Encyclopaedia will be released both online and in book form. Work on the book, which aims to consolidate knowledge about Latvia, started four years ago.

The print volume with 250 entries has a run of 3,000 and spans 864 pages. It focuses on the past 30 years -- the renewal of independence and modern-day Latvia. 

The full online version of the National Encyclopaedia will be released December 18 and available at http://enciklopedija.lv/. It feature articles about specific topics written by industry experts. Each entry will have a byline.

Last time a similar encyclopedia was made more than thirty years ago when Latvia was still part of the Soviet Union.
