Rīga World Film Festival returns this week

From April 25th to 28th, the independent cinema "Kino Bize" will host the annual "Riga World Film Festival", which focuses on the relationship between documentary and ethnography. 27 documentaries will be screened over four days, with lectures, conversations with filmmakers and even a night-time sauna and picnic session on the agenda.

A welcome extension of the festival's reach means that this year for the first time the festival program will be complemented by screenings for children and young people.

As part of the sixth edition of the festival, on April 25 visual anthropologist Angela Torresan (Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, University of Manchester) will give a lecture “Multiple mirrors: reflexivity and autobiography in documentary cinema”. Entry is free of charge.

You can read more about the festival events and film screenings at the dedicated festival website and Facebook page.
