Three for the Weekend: Christmas goodness

While Latvia isn't exactly reveling in snow at the moment, things related to Christmas are slowly cropping up across the country.

Old Town Christmas Fair

The Riga Old Town is as each year replete, with Christmas vendors selling mulled wine and gifts, musicians playing music, and visitors daring the tricky cobblestone at the heart of Riga to get to all that.

"Visitors will have a chance to find their Christmas miracle here every day. Various concerts and workshops are on the programme, with Santa Claus entertaining kids and adults alike," says Riga's tourism portal, Live Riga. 

Christmas Festival in Jūrmala

From December 15 to January 7 the renovated Dzintaru concert hall is holding Christmas-themed concerts with renowned guests such as Latvian Voices, pianist Vestards Šimkus, the Latvian Radio Choir, Sinfonietta Riga and others, including the vocal band The Queen’s Six from the UK.

Christmas music in Jelgava

While the Jelgava St. Trinity Church is on December 15 at 6 p.m. holding a Christmas concert with Goran Gora and Kārlis Kazāks. The musicians will be playing up high at the panorama platform of the church.
