Take note – story published 1 year and 9 months ago

After the holiday feasts, it is time to get a bit of exercise. It will be cold this weekend, but don't let that scare you. Take a thermos and a good woolly sweater and go explore!

Botanical garden's Light in the Dark

Though usually the University of Latvia's Botanical garden is open from spring to autumn, this year, on its centenary, it invites visitors for walks during the dark and cold time. The garden is open every night from 17:00 to 21:00 for a "miraculous walk in the dark".

Purezers trail

The Purezers nature trail is located on the Limbaži-Aloja road, closer to Aloja. The trail begins in a pine forest and then circles the Purezers forest lake, with several floating resting spots for a wintery picnic. The length of the trail is 3.5 kilometers.

Viesata River Bends

The nature trail of the Viesata River on the Tukums-Jaunpils road will appeal more to those looking for a longer, more difficult hike. The length of the trail is about 10 kilometers, leading uphill and downhill along the river, crossing it, and leading onto an island in the middle. This trail is especially beautiful in winter and spring, and has several nature objects along the way.
