What to know when visiting cultural venues in Latvia

Take note – story published 3 years ago

On May 12, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Dace Vilsone, spoke in a press conference about sanitary protocols for small-scale cultural venues and events.

With new relaxed restrictions on the way, various cultural venues, such as libraries and museums, will gradually open their doors. The changes will take effect as of May 13.

"Culture is finally beginning to bloom this spring. Small cultural events can take place, provided that no more than 25 people gather indoors and the event does not exceed 3 hours. Two-meter distance must be respected," said Dace Vilsone.

Museums and libraries with an area exceeding 1000 square meters will be allowed to accommodate up to 50 people. This does not apply to pre-organized events.

Tickets for museum entrance must be purchased online.

If a person shows signs of COVID-19 infection, they must not visit cultural venues. Museums and libraries have the right not to allow entry of persons exhibiting symptoms of the illness.

Prior to visit, rules of the particular venue must be checked on its website. Venues may impose additional rules.
