Zaube Wild Food Festival returns September 9

On Saturday, September 9, the small village of Zaube will see its population swell many times over with foodies and foragers descending upon it for the annual Zaube Wild Food Festival from 11:00.

Chefs specialising in various different wild and ecological foods will share their knowledge in wild food cooking master classes, with highlights including demonstrations by Ingmārs Ladigs, Renārs Purmalis, Vineta Cipe and Sandra Matule.

The local Zaube hunters and anglers collective will show the process of spit-roasting an entire wild boar over the course of the day, and will teach festival-goers how to roast venison on hot stones.

The youngest visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to improve their culinary skills at a "Little Cook School", which will be led by Laura Grēviņa, while healthy lifestyle expert Andis Brēmanis will share insights on how to benefit from nature for strengthening your body.

Meadow teas will be showcased by Evita Lukina, while the usefulness of birch trees will be revealed by Kaspars Zvirbulis.

As well as tasty attractions and a craft and produce market, various other activities and entertainments will also be on offer.

The full program, plus details of how to book a place in a masterclass, are available here.
