Latvian translation mentorships on offer

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Budding translators are currently being offered a great opportunity to gain professional experience as part of an initiative from the Latvian Literature platform.

"We are scouting for people who would like to translate Latvian literature into Italian, German or Norwegian. Prior knowledge of Latvian is required. During the 5 months of the program, the participants will be working on a sample translation of a work of Latvian literature under the mentorship of an experienced translator," Latvian Literature says.

The program is free of charge and the mentors are all experienced and distinguished translators: Margherita Carbonaro (Italian), Snorre Karkkonen Svensson (Norwegian) and Sebastian Guggolz (German). The sessions will be held remotely online.

To apply, send a short motivation letter (in English or Latvian) to [email protected]

Applications are open until July 14. The program is co-funded by the State Cultural Capital Foundation of Latvia.
