World Cup season leader Mikaela Shiffrin of the USA won the event with Slovakia's Petra Vlhova second and Swedish skier Sara Hector in third.
In the first race, Ģērmane started in a lowly 50th place, but was able to show excellent speed on the already damaged track and finished in 14th place, earning the right to a second run which saw further improvement and a first ever top-ten finish for a Latvian athlete in the event.
In the first weekend of January, Gērmane reached 12th place in slalom in Slovenia, securing at that time the highest position in the history of independent Latvia in alpine skiing in the World Cup competition.
