Latvia gets an ice hockey wake-up call from Finns

Take note – story published 5 years ago

Following a win against Norway in their opening game, Latvia's ice hockey players got a rude awakening against Finland in the second match of their IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark.

Latvia were on the receiving end of a 1:8 thrashing, with a powerful Finnish side scoring almost at will. Latvia's only goal came when they were already 0:8 down in the 52nd minute.

"We have to come back stronger and learn from our mistakes," said scorer Rihards Bukarts after the game

A chance to do so will come almost immediately with a match against South Korea May 8.
