The jury award went to "Tavi draugi" for its idea to refurbish and rent out unusable donated items.
The audience vote awarded the creative sustainability platform "Bourzma" with the idea of creating a textile upcycling workshop for sustainable clothing.
Each winner received a cash prize for business development worth EUR 4,000 from the organizers of the competition - the Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association and Luminor Bank.
This year, ten existing and emerging social entrepreneurs presented their ideas in the final of the competition. In total, 92 applications were received this year.
Regita Zeiļa, Head of the Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association, said that it was a particularly difficult task to identify the ten finalists, but it is a good indicator as it shows that the field of social entrepreneurship is becoming more and more popular and strong.
The finalists were also given several choice awards. The Development Finance Institution "Altum" awarded its prize to the association "Krapes muiža" from Ogre municipality with the idea of improving the environment to promote rural tourism and creating a fishing spot for wheelchair users.
Meanwhile, Otrā Elpa, a pioneer of social entrepreneurship in Latvia, awarded the prize to Mombee.lv, a platform for information, and emotional and practical support for expectant and new parents, especially mothers with post-natal depression.
Luminor Bank awarded "Veselība katrā kumosā", an initiative by Elina Zandere from Jurmala, which offers specialized food for people recovering from oncological and other diseases.
The Latvian Social Entrepreneurship Association awarded its favorite prize to IziPizi from Ogre municipality for its idea to develop a network of food kiosks to promote the sale of food produced and grown in Latvia.
