5G Techritory event set for November

Dates have been confirmed for the next 5G Techritory event, which is recent years has become an important meeting place to plot the future uses of 5G technology in the Baltics and beyond.

According to organizers, this year''s event is particularly important as a resut of  newly-availabile digitization funds promised by the European Union, potentially totaling over 300 billion euros.

"This is a huge opportunity for the 5G industry and will be among the focuses at this year's event," says advance publicity material.

5G Techritory will take place November 22-25 in Rīga or online and participation is free of charge.

Among some of the confirmed speakers are: Doreen Bogdan-Martin (ITU Director), Michel Van Bellinghen (BEREC Chariman), Colin Willcock (5G IA Chairman of the Board), Takehiro Nakamur (DOCOMO, SVP & GM of 6G Laboratories NTT), and Johannes Springer (5GAA Director General).

“The topic of who will finance 5G technologies has always been relevant, as the technologies often require significant investments in infrastructure. We're now seeing that Europe is putting a focus on digitalization, and one key aspect of that is 5G. Because participating in tenders requires the collaboration of various organizations, this year the 5G Techritory forum is placing a focus on facilitating that collaboration in order to lay the foundation for the establishment of new R&D consortiums. I've said it once and I'll say it again – 5G isn't a single-player game. We have to work together to make the best of it, and 5G Techritory is the best place to be to get in on a slice of the pie,” said Neils Kalniņš, Director of 5G Techritory.

In addition to the topic of funding, the forum will shed light on current best practices by organizations and governments demonstrating excellence in 5G rollout. This will be through World Day, which will showcase trailblazing nations around the world and how they put legislation in place to pave the way for 5G, clever implementations of use cases, successful projects, and the topic of financing. Meanwhile, on Tech Day, over 500 case studies will be demonstrated on how different organizations are using 5G to their advantage.

The event is free of charge but requires registration. Pre-registration is now open for interested participants at: https://www.5gtechritory.com/registration/
