Producer prices up 11.3% on year in Latvia

Data published on May 23 by the Central Statistical Bureau show that in April 2023, compared to April 2022, the level of producer prices in the Latvian industry increased by 11.3%.

The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market went up by 22.0 % and that of exported products – by 1.0 %. Prices of products exported to euro-area countries increased by 2.3 %, but the level of prices of products exported to non-euro area countries decreased by 0.2 %.

The price rise in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, the manufacture of food products, as well as the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products had the most significant impact on the producer prices. The manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), as well as the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products had a downward impact on the producer price changes.

In April 2023, compared to March 2023, the level of producer prices in the Latvian industry decreased by 1.4 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market fell by 1.9 % and prices of exported products – by 1.0 %. Producer prices of products exported to euro-area countries reduced by 0.2 % and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 1.6 %.
