airBaltic increases passenger numbers across Baltic capitals

Latvia's flag carrier airBaltic increased passenger volumes at Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn airports in July, the head of the airline's corporate communications Janis Vanags told LETA Wednesday.

He said that the airline transported 25,677 to and from Vilnius Airport this past July, 28% more when compared to the same month of the previous year.

For Tallinn Airport the number was 34,109, constituting a 22% increase on year.

Lastly, airBaltic transported a total of 299,661 passengers to and from Riga Airport in July, 4% up on year.

According to Vanags, airBaltic posted the fastest growth among all major airlines operating in the three Baltic airports in July.

He said that the airline plans on ensuring direct flights to 11 destinations from Tallinn and Vilnius airports within the next five years.
