Economics Ministry wants safer shopping for seniors

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Economics Ministry (EM) said in a statement December 11 that additional care should be taken to protect seniors and other risk groups while shopping.

For example, retailers might introduce specific hours for seniors, separate cash registers and queues, or to allow them to skip queues, EM statement said.

In discussions with retailers, EM has found that certain companies are already implementing such precautions. EM calls on the social partners representing the retail sector to compile and share good practices with members and advise on the introduction of the most effective epidemiological security measures at stores.

On the other hand, visitors are encouraged to follow retailers' instructions for a safe shopping process, to shop in advance and not to go to a store or market with symptoms of respiratory disease. Masks must still be used in all stores, a two-meter distance must be observed and hands should be disinfected before and after visiting the store.
