Eleven canneries approved for Chinese market

Eleven Latvian fish processing companies have been granted permission to export their products to China, the Latvian Foreign Ministry announced Monday. 

"On 29 May, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA) published on its website a list of 11 Latvian food manufacturers which will be allowed to export certain fish products to China including canned, frozen and smoked fish," the ministry said.

"This positive result has been achieved through close and constructive cooperation between the Latvian Embassy in China, the Food and Veterinary Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia," the ministry said.

From 4-7 May, Agriculture Minister Janis Dūklavs, was on a visit to China during which he held discussions with high-ranking officials on the possibilities for increasing exports of Latvian food products to China.
