Latvia signs joint energy letter to European Commission

Latvia has joined Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Finland and Estonia in a call to the European Commission to propose a "targeted EU electricity market reform".

A three-page joint letter published on several of the countries' EU social media accounts calls on the EC to safeguard incentives for green energy while also "maintaining market incentives and a level playing field". There is also a demand that so-called 'Contracts for Difference' (CfDs) in the energy sector should be voluntary and not retro-actively applied, among other things.
