Those who are required to do this (self-employed persons, business or property owners, those who have been employed abroad, those whose annual income exceeds EUR 78,100, and others) can file tax declaration within three months, up to June 1, but voluntarily, to recover the eligible costs, this can be done for three years, so the VID calls for no rush to make declarations in the first days of March.
The VID asks that the declaration be submitted electronically, in the Electronic Declaration System (VID EDS), because it automatically lists all the data already available to the VID and calculates the amounts to be paid.
This year, for the first time, people who add their payment documents on medical services to the declaration will have to indicate whether there was a health insurance contract in the year in question. This will allow VID employees to obtain information from the insurer more quickly if needed.
The number of annual income statements submitted as of Wednesday morning already exceeded 100,000, VID told LETA.
Representatives of the VID said that nearly 9,000 declarations were submitted in the first 30 minutes past midnight, 15,992 in the first hour, and by 8 in the morning, there were already 99 572 declarations.
“The number of declarations currently submitted has exceeded 100,000,” noted the VID, pointing out that the submission of declarations to EDS is running smoothly.
At the same time, VID Director General Ieva Jaunzeme said in an interview to TV3's broadcast “900 sekundes” that nearly 10% of all planned annual income statements have been submitted in the first hours of Wednesday, adding that more annual income statements have now been submitted than within the same time last year.
