Following on from its recent invitation to vote for a joint €2 coin for the Baltic states to celebrate their centenaries, in partnership with several other organisations, Latvijas Banka (LB)is holding its regular public survey Latvia's Coin of the Year from 7 April to 27 April 2017.
"The national central bank invites the public to express their opinion as to which collector coin issued by Latvijas Banka in 2016 is most appealing to survey respondents due to its artistic solution, emotional impact, originality and attractiveness of design," LB explains .
There will be a "solemn awards ceremony" on 25 May to award the title.
"Latvian institutions, organisations and public at large consider these coins as an excellent present immortalising the nation's culture, art and design innovations," LB says.

Online voting is open on Latvijas Banka's website at www.bank.lv/aptauja, www.draugiem.lv/latvijasbanka andpaper-based voting takes place by filling out a form in Latvijas Banka's premises at K. Valdemāra iela 2A and K. Valdemāra iela 1B in Riga as well as at Teātra iela 3 in the Liepāja Branch.
Voting forms are also available at several cultural institutions and coin trade points (the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation, the Latvian National History Museum at 32 Brīvības Boulevard, the LNMM Museum of Decorative Art and Design, the LNMM exhibition hall "Arsenāls" (all in Riga), central regional libraries of Kuldīga, Ventspils, Jelgava, Preiļi, Daugavpils, Valmiera and Riga as well as in the centres of other regions, Riga bookshops of Valters and Rapa Publishers at 24 Aspazijas Boulevard and "Domina" Trade Centre, the JSCs "E-Lats" and "Rīga Numis" ("Riga Numismatic Salon").
