The number of direct passengers was just under 503,000 in October, three percentage points above the October 2019 result, the airport told the media in a statement.

Since the beginning of the year, 5.7 million passengers have used Rīiga airport for their travel, exceeding the result of the previous year: a total of 5.38 million passengers were serviced in January-December 2022.

“Riga airport offers the largest number of destinations in the Baltic States, and many of them are offered only by the Rīga airport. We also felt this well in October, when the number of passengers at our airport increased during school holidays in Latvia and both neighboring countries. Passengers' favorite routes remain warm leisure destinations by the Mediterranean as well as British and Irish airports,“ Laila Odiņa, chairwoman of the board of the airport, said in a statement to the media.

The number of transfer passengers still accounts for around 20% of the total number of passengers served – 122,500 passengers used Riga airport as a transfer airport in October.

In October, 5,659 passengers, cargo, and other flights were served, up 11% from a year earlier.
