Expect roadwork delays on Daugavpils highway

Roadworks are under way on two sections of the main A6 highway linking the Latvian capital, Rīga, to the second largest city, Daugavpils, roadbuilder "Latvijas valsts ceļi" (Latvian state roads, LVC) is informing motorists.

On the Daugavpils highway (A6) near Pļaviņas, in the section from the Pļaviņi quarry to the traffic junction of highways A6, P37 and V772 (118 k to 129 km), the surface is being restored, and reconstruction works are underway at the traffic junction itself. Repair work also continues on the overpass over the railway in the (124 km), LVC said.

During the roadworks, reduced speed limits have been introduced and the road width has been reduced ina  section of contraflow. Drivers should expect delays on the route, which may get longer as the works progress.

When planning routes along the Daugavpils highway, it should be taken into account that road construction works are also taking place in Lielvārde (51-56 km), and from Koknese to Stukmani (102-116 km), which may further add to journey times.

It is planned that all these repair works will be completed this year at a cost of several million euros.

Full details of roadworks and driving conditions across Latvia are available at the LVC website, which has an interactive map: https://lvceli.lv/en/sakumlapa-english/
