Latvian Railways management changes

On Monday, June 10, the Supervisory Board of the State JSC "Latvijas dzelzceļš" (Latvian Railways, LDz) decided to make changes in the company's Management Board, including demoting the current chairman, LDz said in a statement.

LDz decided to appoint Artis Grinbergs as Chairman of the Management Board, to appoint the current Chairman of the Management Board Rinaldas Pļavnieks as a member of the Management Board, and to remove the current member of the Management Board Vita Balode-Andrūsa from her position in the LDz Management Board, the company informed.

Thus, the LDz Management Board continues to be composed of two persons.

Grinbergs is currently acting as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC "Pasažieru vilciens" and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC "Sakret Holdings". Previously, Grinbergs has worked in the Board of the Freeport of Riga and in other senior positions in the private and public sectors. 

Andris Liepiņš, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of LDz, explained that SJSC "Latvijas dzelzceļš" has a key role to play in the ongoing reform of the sector by the Ministry of Transport, and the new Chairman of the Board of LDz, Artis Grinbergs, with his extensive experience in public and private sector positions related to economic and digital transformation, will make an important contribution to LDz's strategic change processes and the detailing and implementation of the sector-wide reform plan.

Liepiņš pointed out that during the term of office of Pļavnieks, the current Chairman of the Board of LDz, LDz has undertaken a number of significant and positive processes - LDz has made significant progress in integration into EU railway organizations and freight corridors, and reorganization of LDz technological processes and functions has been initiated and will be completed this year.
