1,000 unmasked passengers told to get off public transport in September

More than 1,000 people were told to get off public transport in Rīga during September for not wearing facemasks according to figures released by Rīgas satiksme (Rīga transport) October 5.

From September 1 to 30, ticket controllers performed 22,561 public transport inspections. Of these, 2,457 were made together with Rīga municipal police.

During the month some 1,011 were told to get off because they were not wearing a mask. The figure is similar to August's equivalent of 1,005.

3,213 passengers were issued with fines for travelling without a ticket.

 A total of 7,814,945 passengers were carried in September on all public transport routes in the capital.
