The development of 52 kilometers of cycling infrastructure is to be financed by the RF with €34.5 million.
Transport Minister Kaspars Briškens (Progressives) said that with the signing of the contracts, real work on creating a comfortable, safe, and modern infrastructure is beginning.
"The creation of cycle routes in Rīga and the Pierīga Region will simultaneously promote environmentally friendly transport choices, healthy lifestyles, and connectivity between the city center and neighborhoods," Briškens said.
Five municipalities have launched projects for the construction, reconstruction, renovation, improvement, or adaptation of cycle routes: Rīga, Ķekava, Ropaži, Mārupe, and Ādaži.
The projects are to be implemented by May 31, 2026.
