The Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFLA) has launched an additional call for municipalities to use the financing of the Recovery Fund for the purchase of electric cars for school transport. The fund still has €3.7 million available for this purpose, the CFLA said March 29.

The investment program developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development aims to promote the mobility of pupils and the accessibility of the school network while promoting the “greening” of public sector transport in Latvia.

An additional draft for the submission of projects is organized to use the remaining funds – EUR 3,714,189.83.

It is planned that, with the available support, municipalities and their capital companies will be able to purchase zero-emission buses, as well as the funding will allow the necessary charging infrastructure to be installed. The Fund will cover all project costs at 100%, excluding value-added tax (VAT). The implementation of projects is scheduled to run by the end of 2025.

Latvian municipalities and their capital companies, except Rīga, may apply for financing.

Project applications will be accepted by the CFLA until June 28, 2023.
