The new cars will particularly help with delivery in areas where postal services are provided at the customer's residence. In rural areas, customers often take the opportunity to apply for postal services directly at their homes for the sake of convenience.
Based on the size of the service area and other parameters – for example, whether deliveries are carried out in a rural area, in private housing, or in a multi-apartment home neighborhood, postal items are delivered on foot, cycling or by a motorized vehicle. Mostly, motorized transport for shipment deliveries is used in areas with low population density and long distances between recipients.
Therefore, expanding the car fleet with new cars will contribute to more efficient delivery of universal mail services, particularly in regions.
The planned procurement amounts to EUR 5.5 million, including full-service rentals for passenger cars for a period of five years, which includes maintenance and inspection, repair, tire replacement and OCTA/KASKO insurance throughout the lease period.
In order to encourage more environmentally friendly delivery of mail, an important criterion for the procurement is the indicator of the fuel consumption of the car, assessing its economic aspects, LP said.
