Rīga Transport revenue down 16 million in 2020

Ticket revenues for the municipal public transport company “Rīgas satiksme” are estimated to be €16 million less than a year earlier, Latvian Radio reported December 15.

Džineta Innusa, Chairman of the company's Board, said that the revenue is declining with restrictions on public transport.

"Both during the first emergency and at the moment, we are trying to meet all the restrictions. We are also trying to provide transport, including all the largest vehicles at our disposal, and we have not reduced the number of routes. All of this leaves an impact on ticket sales, where revenue will be €16 million less this year compared with 2019.

We are still trying to work in a balanced way, and we are looking at internal resources to reduce spending. But it will not be so easy next year, because spending has already been reduced by €19 million this year,” Innusa explained.

The Chairman of the Transport and Traffic Committee of the Riga City Council, Olafs Pulks, said in an interview to Latvian Television: it is planned that Rīgas satiksme will still end this year with profits.
