Latvian public media launch Ukraine support week

During the week marking two years since Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Latvian public service media – Latvian Television (LTV), Latvian Radio (LR), and LSM.lv launch a donation project in cooperation with Ziedot.lv in which the funds raised will be transferred in full to support Ukraine.

We think about Ukraine every day, but it is not enough for the Ukrainian people to continue to fight for their country, their homes, and their future. Ukraine still needs practical assistance, so Latvian public media, in cooperation with Ziedot.lv, has launched a donation project for the purchase of urgently needed things in the busy everyday life of the war.

“We want to strengthen the Ukrainian consciousness that we are with them – that thought can never be too great or strong in a fight as stark and cruel as it has been for two years. Donation is one real and practical way we can help,“ says Sigita Roķe, editor-in-chief of LTV.

You can donate by calling 90204020 (call fee – EUR 1.50 with VAT) or online ziedot.lv/ukrainai. All donated money will go to support Ukraine – donation recipients will be chosen by Ziedot.lv together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia. The aid project is active from today, February 20 to March 3 (inclusive).

Anita Brauna, editor-in-chief of Latvian Radio, said: "The brave Ukrainian people really deserve our support - we must not tire of delivering it until Ukraine wins. Helping Ukrainians is both our human duty and a purely selfish interest: if evil is not destroyed in Ukraine, it will continue to expand and may come to us."

All week, Latvian public media will broadcast special Ukrainian-themed content – interviews, reports from the war zone, documentary stories about Ukrainians, broadcasts of support events, as well as news releases, discussions, and analytical programs.
