The officials are expected to discuss preparations for the NATO Washington Summit in July 2024, security issues in the Baltic region, support for Ukraine, and response to Russia’s aggression, according to a Foreign Ministry release.
As part of his visit, Kariņš is scheduled to participate in a public discussion at the Hudson Institute think tank titled “Enhancing Northern European Security: Why the US should Listen to the Baltic States?” alongside his Lithuanian and Estonian counterparts, as well as several other meetings with think tanks and interviews with the media.
Kariņš is a dual citizen of both the United States and Latvia.
