Balts' Award goes to translator Dace Meiere

On September 15, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevics, welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergiswho was in Latvia on a working visit. The ministers discussed bilateral relations between Latvia and Lithuania, regional cooperation, the security situation in the region, support for Ukraine, and topics high on the international agenda.

The ministers confirmed the need to continue providing political, military and humanitarian support to Ukraine, as well as to coordinate further cooperation in issuing visas to citizens of Russia and Belarus.

In an official ceremony, the Ministers also presented the annual Balts’ Award bestowed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Lithuania to recognize excellence and achievement in research, fostering and strengthening of the Balts’ heritage. The award was assigned for the first time in 2018. and this year's recipient is translator Dace Meiere.

The Ministers also presented a new report, titled “Strategic Commitment and Choices for Latvia and Lithuania in the Age of Disruption and Great Power Rivalry”.
