The exit poll, compiled for Latvian Television, Latvian Radio, the LETA newswire, and Rīga Stradiņš University predicts that eight political forces will pass the 5% barrier to enter the parliament.
According to the results of voter polls, the biggest vote should have been received by the Jaunā Vienotība (New Unity) party of Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš, with 22.5% of the ballots. They are followed by a new political presence, the Apvienotais saraksts (United list) with 11.5% and the Greens and Farmers Union (ZZS) with 10.9%.
The Nacionālā Apvienība (National Alliance) should have entered parliament with 8.4% support, just ahead of the Progresīvie (Progressives) with 8.3%.
Also crossing the required threshold are Stabilitātei! (For stability!) with 5.4%, Latvija pirmajā vietā (Latvija in first place) with 5.3% and Attīstībai/Par! (For Development/For!) on 5.2%.
According to the exit poll, no other party makes it into parliament – but it must be stressed that this is an exit poll only and may prove to be accurate or inaccurate. Only time and the vote count will tell.
