Corruption cops fine Minister Čudars for conflicting work positions

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has imposed a €70 penalty on the current Climate and Energy Minister Raimonds Čudars (New Unity) for illegally joining work positions, LETA reported August 21.

Čudars reportedly took the position of a member of the Council of the Local Government Finance Adjustment Fund while being a member of the Riga Planning Region Development Council. The infringement was committed last year, but the penalty was paid this year in August.

In another case, the KNAB has refused to start the administrative infringement process, instead issuing a reprimand. Last year, as Saeima deputy, he received prohibited income from Rīga and Pierīga municipal association "Rīgas Metropole".

Čudars became minister last December.
