Belarus in focus during live Nordic-Baltic foreign policy discussion

Latvia's eastern neighbor, Belarus, will be the subject of a live online discussion taking place April 8 at 15:00 Rīga time (GMT +3).

The Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA), in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Latvia, invites you to the presentation and the discussion of its latest policy brief: "Baltic and Nordic Responses to the 2020 Post-Election Crisis in Belarus". 

The presentation and discussion will take place in English and will run until approximately 16:30 live here on LSM and LIIA's Facebook page.

"The policy brief takes on and compares the reactions of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden in light of the Belarus 2020 post-election crisis and assesses implications for the bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the Baltics and Nordics with Belarus," LIIA said ahead of the event.

Opening remarks will come from Andris Sprūds, Director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, Professor at the Riga Stradiņš University, and Stefan Eriksson, Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Latvia.

Presentation of the policy brief outcomes will be carried out by Evija Djatkoviča, Researcher at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs and Riga Stradiņš University, and then a discussion will take place invlving Franak Viačorka, Senior Advisor to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Ramūnas Vilpišauskas, Jean Monnet Chair professor of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science (IIRPS), Vilnius University, Andžejs Viļumsons, Director of the First Bilateral Relations Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Hans Wallmark, Swedish parliamentarian, former president of the Nordic Council (tbc).

Moderating duties will be carried out by Evija Djatkoviča, Researcher at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs and Riga Stradiņš University.
