Highest State decorations awarded for Latvia's independence fight

On the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the law on the Statehood of Republic of Latvia, 97 people were bestowed the highest state decorations by the President Egils Levits on August 19.

The different decorations, including the highest - Order of the Three Stars -, as well as the Order of Viesturs and the Cross of Recognition, were received by 97 persons, who in some way have helped Latvia regain its independence still in Soviet times, whose professional and civic activity has contributed to the growth of Latvia as a democratic, just and national State, as well as to people who have altruistically performed their work duties during the state of emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic.
