During the meeting, the leaders of NATO's Eastern flank countries will meet with US President Joe Biden, who on Feruary 21-22 came to Poland and Ukraine to confirm the unwavering support of the United States for the security of the alliance.
Addressing his colleagues, President Levits presented Latvia's vision of how to preserve lasting peace in Europe and an international order based on the rule of law:
"We all understand that Ukraine must win and Russia must lose. For our part, we must continue to provide Ukraine with everything necessary to facilitate its victory. It's not just about fighter jets, it's about our determination to defend our values in the long term."
Levits emphasized the need to hold Russia accountable for the crimes committed in the war in Ukraine, adding:
"Ukraine's future and world order will be secured only if Russia is held accountable in an international tribunal."

Meanwhile from February 22 to 24, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, will be visiting New York to take part in events on the United Nations agenda – a year after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On February 23, the Foreign Minister will participate in the emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly on Ukraine. The session is expected to adopt a resolution titled “Principles underlying a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine”. The Minister will appeal to the United Nations member states urging them to stand up against the aggression and provide every kind of support that Ukraine requires in the fight for its territory and sovereignty.
"Edgars Rinkēvičs will reassert the need to achieve Russia’s accountability for its crimes of aggression and call for the establishment of a special international tribunal," said a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On February 24, the Minister is to address the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on Ukraine, at which Edgars Rinkēvičs will deliver a speech on behalf of the Nordic countries and the Baltic States.
