"Together, let's affirm unwavering and strong support for Ukraine and consistently continue to shed light internationally on Russia's aggression and the crimes committed by it," said the Speaker of the Saeima during a visit to Spain this week to attend the Conference of Presidents of EU Parliaments from April 21 to 23.
The holding of the parliamentary summit of the International Crimean Platform in Riga is part of Latvia's comprehensive support to Ukraine and an investment in strengthening the rules-based international order, and it will be held in close cooperation with the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. The summit is being held to increase the international community's understanding and support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
Continuing her visit to Spain, the Speaker of the Saeima held bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Poland, Serbia, Sweden and the Baltic states.
During the talks, the Speaker of the Saeima emphasized the need to strengthen the capacity of European countries to act and the military industry in order to be able to provide Ukraine with all the necessary assistance in a timely manner.
The Conference of Presidents of EU Parliaments is an annual forum for speakers to exchange opinions, information and experience. It is attended by the presidents of the parliaments of the EU member states, the president of the European Parliament, as well as the presidents of the parliaments of the EU candidate countries.
