The Order was awarded for "significant personal accomplishments in strengthening international cooperation, supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for important contribution to the promotion of Ukraine worldwide," said the Saeima Press Service's statement.
The Decree for awarding the Order was issued by Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine.
“It is a great honor and high commendation for Latvia for its consistent support and assistance to the state and people of Ukraine over the course of many years. We will continue to do so for as long as necessary to restore justice and international order and for Russia to receive just punishment for the crimes it has committed,” Mūrniece was quoted.
Mūrniece is on a working visit to Zagreb, capital of Croatia. The International Crimea Platform, established in 2021, is a government, parliament, and expert‑level coordination and consultation format.
