Investigation launched into police's response to Jūrmala murder

The Internal Security Bureau (IDB) is probing publicly heard information about the police response to the call in Jūrmala, where a teenager killed his peer last week during a conflict, according to LETA's information.

An eyewitness has claimed to the portal Rus.lsm.lv that what happened was not a common conflict but a mass brawl.

The woman said she first called 113 and asked to be connected to Jūrmala police. She had told the police that two children were assaulted by a crowd of youths in Sloka district. Several questions followed, however, she was unable to give an exact address, so she asked for information to be passed on to Jūrmala police. The answer to this had been that no information will be passed on to anyone because there is no specific description and address of what happened.

The woman then allegedly called 110, where she got the same response.

In accordance with its competence, the IDB shall examine this information and whether the police acted appropriately. The Bureau will not provide further information at this time.
