Smart-ID got cyberattacked Thursday morning in Latvia

A cyber-attack on Thursday morning disrupted the operation of the Smart-ID app.

Smart-ID is used as an authentication tool to log onto internet banking and different online services where it is necessary to confirm one's identity.

The cyber-attack had an external impact and lasted about one and a half hours. After an initial investigation, it was found that the cyber-attack was temporary and users' data was not affected in any way, the cyber-security authority "Cert.lv" confirmed.

Smart-ID is now back up and running, but the investigation is still ongoing.
