Police take up church vandalism case

The Latvian State Police has started criminal proceedings in connection with a vandalism incident at Riga's St. Ģertrūde's Lutheran church.

The State Police received a report that a man entered the church on Sunday, caused damage and also issued physical threats, the LETA news agency reported.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated according to the article of the Criminal Law for the intentional destruction or damage of someone else's property.

Neither the alleged perpetrator's identity nor his suspected motivation have been released.
