The criminal proceedings were launched as the VDD had information that the person had publicly acted in a way that justifies and glorifies the war in Ukraine.
On March 16, the person was detained by the State Police near the Freedom monument during the memorial procession. VDD said that 'urgent processual activities' were carried out at locations related to the person.
The VDD disclosed no further information.
As reported earlier, several criminal proceedings have already been initiated in Latvia in relation to the justification of Russian war crimes.
