Police catch 12-year-old driver

Last week police stopped a car in Aizkraukle municipality driven by a 12-year-old boy with five passengers aged 13 to 17, police said on April 13.

Police in the Pilskalne parish of Aizkraukles municipality spotted an Opel Zafira driving in the opposite direction and tried to stop it, but the car tried to flee. When after some chase they caught the driver, it turned out to be a 12-year-old boy. The car had five passengers in it, all minors. The children were handed over to their statutory representatives, while the Opel Zafira was handed over to its owner.

The police indicated that the responsibility of the owner of the vehicle would also be assessed.

Two administrative infringement proceedings have been initiated against the minor for driving with no license and for failure to stop the car after repeated requests by the police.
